The use of Xenical has been approved to aid people in losing weight and maintaining the resultant weight loss. Its use is also permitted for people who have lost weight and help them from regaining it.

Xenical - How does it work?

Xenical works by lessening the fat absorption from your diet. The intestine and stomach contain enzymes, known as lipases that aids in breaking down fat. The broken down smaller molecules that then absorbed from the digestive tract. Xenical binds itself to lipases and reduces their activity, aiding in the decrease of fat absorption. This medication has no effect on protein or carbohydrates.

Xenical - Uses in children

The use of Xenical has been approved for overweight children who are 12 years or older. You should consult your child’s doctor to discuss the advantages and risks associated with the use of this medication in your child. Xenical could cause reduction of the absorption of some vitamins from the diet, which is a cause for worry in growing children.

Xenical - Off-Label Uses

There could be certain occasions where your doctor could suggest the use of Xenical for reasons other than for weight loss. Such uses are referred to as off label uses. Presently, there is no universally acknowledged off-label use of Xenical.
