Xenical® (orlistat) is available in only a single standard dose, irrespective of your weight, age or some other medical conditions. As in the case of all medications, do not modify your dose of Xenical unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so.

Xenical Dosage – For Weight Loss

The suggested Xenical dosage for weight loss or for weight maintenance in case of adults as well as children of age 12 and above is Xenical 120 mg (that is one capsule) along with every meal that has fat, with a restriction of three times a day. It is ideally suggested to have Xenical along with the meal; however you can have it within an hour after the meal, if needed. Having it after more than an hour post your meal will make it less effective. In case you miss a meal or have a meal with no fat, you must skip the dose of Xenical. The drug is meant to be used only with a combination of an appropriate diet plan and not alone.

Xenical could reduce the absorption of some of the vitamins from your diet. It is suggested that you have a multivitamin once everyday, at least two hours prior to or post taking Xenical. Usually, bedtime is an ideal time for a lot of people to take their multivitamin dose.

Xenical Dosage – General Information

The following are the considerations for people using Xenical:

* This drug is available in the form of capsule. It is to be taken orally along with every meal containing fat, with a maximum or three times a day.
* Xenical must be used with a combination of a low-fat, low-calorie diet plan. Consuming too much of fat in your diet enhances the risk of Xenical side effects. Generally, you should restrict the fat in your meal to below 30 percent of your daily calorie intake.
* In case you skip a meal or have a meal with no fat, you should skip your Xenical dose.
* For this medication to be effective, it should be taken as per directions given by your doctor.
* If you are not sure about certain things concerning your Xenical dose, you should talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
