Phentermine is a prescription drug that aids in weight-loss. As there have been no studies on effects of Phentermine in pregnant animals or women, the safety of its use during pregnancy is not known.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have a pregnancy category system to categorize the likely risks to a fetus when a particular medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C is assigned to drugs for which there have been no studies in pregnant humans but are probable to be harmful the fetus in animal studies. Moreover, drugs with no studies in either pregnant women or animals are automatically assigned pregnancy Category C rating.
There have been no studies on Phentermine usage in any pregnant women or animals. But, some reports which mentions cases of still births and lung problems that could probably be related to the use of Phentermine during pregnancy. Furthermore, chemically Phentermine is related to amphetamines, which are a group of drugs that has been revealed to raise the risk of miscarriages and birth defects.
As the safety of use of Phentermine during pregnancy is not known and the absolute necessity for taking the same is not there, it is suggested that pregnant women should not use Phentermine during pregnancy.
